Post Merger integration and transformation plan of Dr. B Barooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai


On 7th June 2017, the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Honorable Prime Minister has approved the transfer of Administrative Control of Dr. B Barooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati (BBCI) to Tata Memorial Center (TMC) with an objective to make high quality cancer care accessible to the people residing in North Eastern states.

The principals to the project wanted a smooth transition across all areas including clinical integration, finance, legal, operations and others.

A short , medium and a long term plan was required to be prepared that shall act as a guideline for the Integration and Tansformation of the BBCI.

Intervention / process

Camomile Healthcare Ventures, used its proprietary methodologies and developed a timeline linked activity across various functional areas.

We broke down the complex tasks of the transition process into a simpler clearly defined 100-day action plan by synthesizing and identifying interventions suggested by three due diligence reports (Finance and Taxation, Legal Due Diligence, Functional Review and Technical Due Diligence).

The 100-day Action plan from Camomile Healthcare identifies and recommends key activities and resources required to prioritize short, medium and long-term goals on various parameters viz.,

Clinical, Human resources, Infrastructure, Operations, Infrastructure, Legal and compliances, finance and others.

The overall objective is to transform BBCI into a center of excellence over a period of 3 years and to build local capacities in the North Eastern region.
